Hugo Ferdinand Boss founded his clothing company in Metzingen, Germany, in 1923, opening a factory there the following year and building the business on shirts, jackets, workwear and raincoats before turning to men's suits in the years after the Second World War, the foundation of the sharp, structured tailoring BOSS is still known for today.
